Inglourious Basterds Trailer

Inglourious Basterds is a spaghetti western, with an iconography from World War 2. However, it is not characteristic for the time. Instead, Tarantino has focused on the story and altered the history, accordingly, or as the intro to the trailer states it, “Once upon a time… In a Nazi occupied France…”

Inglourious Basterds let us follow two stories. One follows the Jewish woman Shosanna Dreyfus (Mélanie Laurent), who gets her family killed by the Nazi Colonel Hans Landa, played by Christoph Waltz. She manages to escape, though, and starts to figure out a plan that will make Hans Landa pay for what he did.

Brad Pitt is an excellent choice as the fast-talking, heavily accented, and vengeance-driven hillbilly Lt. Aldo Raine, which is the core of the second story.

Raine is the leader is the leader of the Jewish-American taskforce, Inglourious Basterds that has only one purpose, to kill Nazis or as Raine states in the trailer, “We’re aren’t into the prisoner taking business, we’re in the Nazi killing business.”

The group is sent in behind enemy lines, where they converge with the German actress Bridget Von Hammersmark, with which they plan to take down the leaders of the Third Reich. Meanwhile, Dreyfus begins to carry out her own revenge.

Since -92, Quentin Tarantino has managed to get five of his movies on the IMDB Top 250, with Pulp Fiction currently flaunting in 5th place, with an average rating of 8.9.

Now, I have the feeling that Inglourious Basterds, will be his sixth masterpiece on there, and it might even knock down Pulp Fiction. Well, I can hardly wait until August 21, when it has its premiere!
