Fresh Poster and Release Date for Season of the Witch

In December last year I wrote about Dominic Sena’s Season of The Witch, starring Nicolas Cage and Ron Perlman, and that it would hit the theaters in March, 2010.

However, March came and there was no sight of Cage, running around in armor, fighting medieval evil, anywhere.

For a while I thought that they for some reason skipped the theatrical release all together and waited for a DVD/Blu-ray release instead. But that didn’t happen either, so I almost forgot about it, until today.

Now, it finally seems that we’ll be able to see Season of The Witch, in a theater, on January 7 next year. Also, alongside with this new release date, a new and rather groovy poster was also released. A funny thing with this version is that it’s Ron Perlman’s name under the title, instead of Nicolas Cage’s, who plays the lead in the movie.

New Poster for Season of the Witch

Season of the Witch is set in the 14th century, where we meet the Crusader Behman (Cage) as he and his comrade Felson (Perlman) returns to their homeland, which is ruthlessly ravaged by the Black Plague. A beleaguered church claims that the plague is the results of evil sorcery and asks the two knights to escort a witch (Claire Foy) to a remote abbey, where monks will perform a ritual on her, which they hope will put a stop to the plague.

The two knights accepts the mission and are joined by a motley party, consisting of the priest (Stephen Campbell Moore), a grieving knight (Ulrich Thomsen), an itinerant swindler (Stephen Graham) and a headstrong youth (Robert Sheehan).
